The establishment of the Carbon Neutrality Working Group for the Macao Competition Area of the 15th National Games ushers in a new era of green events.


On September 30, 2025, China Certification & Inspection (Macao) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CCIC Macao"), jointly with the Macao International Carbon Emission Exchange(MEX) and the Macao Carbon Neutrality Standardization Alliance (MCSA), announced the official establishment of the "Carbon Neutrality Working Group for the Macao Competition Area of the 15th National Games and the 12th National Paralympic Games & the 9th National Special Olympic Games" (hereinafter referred to as the "Working Group").



The working group will systematically promote the green hosting of the Macao competition area, carry out carbon emission accounting, emission reduction path design and standardization construction throughout the event, assist the Macao competition area in achieving a comprehensive transformation from a "green event" to a "carbon - neutral event", and create a model for green events in the Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area.


In the process of promoting the work, the working group will coordinate with all parties to carry out carbon - neutral work throughout the life cycle of the event, and launch public low - carbon participation and green communication actions for the event. Through the cooperation of multiple parties, it is ensured that the carbon - neutral target of the Macao competition area of the 15th National Games and the National Paralympic and Special Olympic Games is successfully achieved.


Xie Tianhui, General Manager of China Certification & Inspection (Macao) Co., Ltd., said, "As one of the co - initiators of the working group, we will work side by side with the Macao International Carbon Emission Exchange(MEX) and the Macao Carbon Neutrality Standardization Alliance (MCSA), giving full play to our respective expertise to ensure that all aspects of the event's carbon - neutral work are scientific, standardized and efficient."


Meng Meng, General Manager of the Macao International Emissions Exchange, said, "The MEX will jointly provide a high - quality carbon credit product portfolio and a rigorous and practical carbon offset scheme for the National Games, promoting the formation of a replicable and scalable zero - carbon event practice in Macao."


Zhang Senhua, Chairman of the Macao Carbon Neutrality Standardization Alliance, said, "The alliance will provide standardized and methodological support for the working group and complete the certification work in accordance with the standards to ensure the professionalism and recognition of the carbon - neutral work in the Macao competition area."


The working group also issued a cooperation initiative to all sectors of society, sincerely inviting industrial institutions, scientific research universities and social organizations to actively participate. All parties will rely on the institutional innovation with Macao's characteristics, strengthen international cooperation, integrate resources and pool strength to jointly create a low - carbon, environmentally friendly and sustainable "Bay - area demonstration - type" sports event, injecting new impetus into the green development of the Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area.
