Macao International Carbon Emission Exchange (MEX) Invited to Attend the 2025 China-ASEAN Steel Technology Exchange Conference in Malaysia

The 2025 ASEAN Steel Policymakers Meeting & 2025 ASEAN Steel Forum was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from September 29 to October 2, 2025. The event brought together government representatives, industry experts, and business leaders from ASEAN member states including Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Indonesia to jointly explore sustainable development pathways for the regional iron and steel industry.

The core agenda of the conference focused on building a more resilient and environmentally friendly regional iron and steel industry. During the event, policymakers from ASEAN countries engaged in in-depth exchanges, with a key focus on the coordination and unification of regional iron and steel policy frameworks.

The Macao International Carbon Emission Exchange (MEX) was invited to attend the conference and delivered a presentation on "Leveraging High-Quality Carbon Credits to Support Steel Enterprises' Net-Zero Journeys."

Representatives from MEX shared trend data on the global development of high-quality carbon credits and elaborated on how such credits can help steel enterprises establish a dual-track strategy of "emission reduction + offset."

The presentation also show cased MEX's industry-specific solutions. Aligned with the net-zero goals and decarbonization needs of the steel sector, MEX aims to support ASEAN steel enterprises in developing carbon-neutral steel products through its high-quality carbon credit product portfolio and intelligent trading platform. These solutions help meet customers' demand for low-carbon steel and leverage green financial tools to facilitate the global implementation of more green steel projects.
